This is day 73, and I'm Pinto reporting to you from the Gaza Strip. It has been 73 days since Hamas carried out terror operations against Israeli communities surrounding the Gaza Strip. Currently, the IDF has gained control over the majority of Gaza. Entering the Gaza Strip evokes a mix of feelings, a combination of fear and excitement. What struck me the most was witnessing Israeli troops, tanks, and flags on buildings, a mere 74 days after Hamas attempted a terror attack to destroy Israel.
Before entering, I prayed for strength and protection, acknowledging that I have no control over my life. In a cinematic twist, the IDF uncovered Hamas's largest underground tunnel, spanning 4 kilometers and reaching a depth of 50 meters below ground. Equipped with numerous exit points, the tunnel is a complex maze with advanced features such as sewer systems, electricity, phones, and blast doors. It is so vast that vehicles can drive underground.
The IDF discovered ammunition, weapons, and other military equipment belonging to Hamas in this underground tunnel. Notably, a video of Muhammad Sina, the brother of Hamas's leader, was found beneath the tunnel. The project involved advanced construction materials and technologies, with reports indicating that Hamas invested millions of dollars in this extensive tunnel network. The IDF continues to uncover smaller tunnels across Gaza, reinforcing its siege on Hamas.
The ongoing conflict has led to the surrender of more terrorists, and on Israel's northern border, the IDF intensifies its offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon. Tragically, four IDF soldiers from an elite paratrooper unit lost their lives in the battle for Han Yunis, and another wounded soldier, Uriya, succumbed to his injuries. The fighting evolves daily, and as I change positions in the military, I appreciate your prayers for the safety of the IDF and the peace of Jerusalem.
